Fun machine for Lightweights
The following test review serves as a good starter for a press release.
‚Gleitschirm’ magazine writes in their issue 10/06: “The Rookie beats its
predecessor Syntax fairly and squarely, thanks to the innovative NOVAteam.
It displays a smooth handling, a soft character of the canopy,
concurrent with nicely damped flight behaviour, and a high safety potential.
The cream of the crop is the top performance. All in all, this guarantees a
huge range of application: As a safe training instrument for beginners to a
cross country wing for experienced pilots, that are inclined to maximize the
XC’s safety.’ Enough said. Except for this: The sizes XS (weight category
65–85 kg) and XXS (weight category 55–75 kg) have now received the DHV
1-2 classification.
As far as the performance of the Rookie is concerned, the ‘Gleitschirm’ magazine
measured a glide ratio of 1:8,4 (actually the same value that NOVA states; please check
http://www.expandingknowledge.com/Jerome/PG/Gear/Wing/Perf/Gleitschirm/Main.htm).
Actually, this is the forth best value ever measured from ‘Gleitschirm’ in the category of 1–
2 gliders. The Rookie, being a low level 1–2 paraglider, joined the ranks of the high-level
1–2 wings, leaving several DHV 2-wings behind.
Designi engineer Hannes Papesh reflects on the ROOKIE: “Initially, we were thinking of
declaring the ROOKIE a DHV 1-glider. That would have been possible without a doubt.
Blessed with this performance, on the other hand, the ROOKIE shouldn’t be labelled as a
class 1 wing. This would devaluate it to a mere beginners-glider. But the ROOKIE is
definitely more than just that: I personally enjoy flying it a lot, because everything is
straightforward and relaxing.’
Same as all NOVA gliders, buyers obtain the ‘NOVA PROTECT’ insurance. It includes a
one-year comprehensive coverage plus a three-year guarantee on material and
machining.
NOVA is an innovative, reliable and quality-intent paragliding firm, with a product focus on fun and
flying safety. NOVA’s target group is the average paragliding pilot. The company, established 1989,
is now one of the world’s leading suppliers.
